Humble Beginnings
Long before any permanent settlers set foot in what has become known as Lansing, the Indians relied on the land along the State's longest river, the Grand, to provide for their families. Mid-Michigan, at that time, was part of the Northwest Territory, an unsettled land of dense forests and abundant wildlife.

Lansing is located in the south central part of Michigan and is the State Capital. The City had a population of 127,321 according to the 1990 Census. The Lansing area is proud of nearby Lansing Community College, Michigan State University, Oldsmobile Division of GM which celebrated their 100th anniversity in 1997, our Lansing Center Convention facility and the Lansing Lugnuts Class A baseball team in beautiful Oldsmobile Park. Just down and around the corner is the REOLD's Museum too!
Lansing is undergoing a number of major downtown economic development projects and is renovating its "Old Town" in the northern section of the city with many exciting developments. Lansing is an ideal place in which to live, work and raise a family and has some of the most affordable housing available in the United States.
